Ontario Regional Director
Stan Ossias is Ontario Regional Director for NRC-IRAP based in Toronto. He leads a team of Industrial Technology Advisors comprised of entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists, founders, inventors and former executives who provide business and technical advisory services, as well as direct R&D funding, to established, high-potential SMEs engaged in technology innovation to grow their businesses. IRAP, the Industrial Research Assistance Program, is an arm of the National Research Council dedicated to stimulating economic growth through the promotion and amplification of technology innovation by small and medium enterprises of 500 or fewer employees. IRAP complements other public and private actors in the technology innovation, export enablement, economic development and entrepreneurial accelerator ecosystem; specifically focusing on driving R&D innovation by established firms with exceptional technologies and demonstrated growth potential.
Prior to joining the NRC, Stan held various leadership roles at Advanced Micro Devices, ATI Technologies, Apple Canada and various other computer and technology companies over a 28 year career in the private sector. At AMD he was Worldwide Director of the Mobile Graphics business unit and an active contributor to Canada’s global semiconductor, computer graphics and video game industries through this and his subsequent role as Director of Technical Marketing, Game Developer Relations and Product Management. Stan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and an MBA from Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto.

The National Research Council, Industrial Research Assistance Program is a key element in the fabric of Canada’s innovation ecosystem. Through the insights, efforts and connections of our national network of Industrial Technology Advisors we provide advisory services, technical & business assessments and financial contributions to qualified Canadian SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) engaged in R&D innovation and commercialization of world class products, services and platforms. In this session Stan will share what his team looks for in the selection of SMEs for advisory support and funding.
